SpotMe Home Screen: Quick Guidelines

The home screen is built of blocks, which can contain different kinds of content. The standard block is responsive and adjusts its shape and size to different screens and devices.

The Banner Block

  • Portrait banner image - 1500x700 pixels
  • Landscape banner image - 2000x500 pixels

This block is always at the top of the home screen. It can display multiple images (as a slider) and captions. It highlights your event, key sessions or sponsors. The banner block's shape cannot be changed.

Short Default Block

  •  A wide and short responsive block
  • Aspect fill images with a 5:1 ratio (1000x200 px)
  • Useful for links with mood images and text overlays, text and icon combination, or pure text.

Tall Default Block

  • A wide and tall responsive block
  • Aspect fill images with a 5:2 ratio (1000x400 px)
  • Excellent for hero images, sponsor banners, photo galleries, messages, agendas, and other interactive content that displays information on the home screen.

Short Narrow Block

  • An alternative, narrow responsive block
  • Aspect fill images with a 5:2 ratio (500x200 px)
  • Displays on tablets defaults to default block on phones
  • For decorative images, logos, icons or teasers
  • Avoid combined text and images in these blocks

Tall Narrow Block

  • An alternative, narrow responsive block
  • Aspect fill images with a 5:4 ratio (500x400 px)
  • Displays on tablets, defaults to default block on phones
  • For images, galleries, and sponsor banners
  • Avoid combined text and images in these blocks

Tips

The blocks are responsive. This means that their size and, often, the shape will change on different screens (tablets, phones, desktops). Thus, there is not a fixed block size. Test your content on different devices to make sure it will fit well. Aspect-fill image fitting (advanced options) is best for full-block images. Use the template images to ensure your images are consistently sized.

Aspect-fit image fitting (advanced options) is good for logos or banners with transparent backgrounds. Use images of the same height, with the same margins. Images 300 pixels high are best for the short blocks, 600 pixels high for the tall blocks.

Start with the default blocks first. Use narrow blocks only for tablet-focused events.

You can use images for home screen icons or images with the document content type. 300x300 pixel dimension .png images, with 30 px margins, work best. You can set up block layouts (or individual blocks!) to appear only when conditions are met: a certain time, by participant (e.g. name, country, company or another segment) or by action (survey completion).
