The Home feed refers to the feed of posts that is visible on the Home screen of the app.
Each workspace or app has a Home feed that by default combines all the posts from all the existing feeds in the workspace, to make them visible all in one place to the app user.
In the app, posts in the Home feed will still show as posted to a specific feed. In the below example one post is posted to "General", and the other is posted to "Product workshop".
To note, individual (separate) feeds can still be created and be accessed individually in the app, in parallel to the Home feed.
In Backstage, the Home feed is not actually visible as an existing feed in the Feed module, but does have its own Home feed settings page where Backstage users can exclude certain feeds from the Home feed.
Excluding feeds from the Home feed
To exclude feeds from showing in the Home feed:
- Go to the Interactivity category and select the Feed module.
- Go to the Preferences tab to display the Home feed settings.
- Select the feeds to be excluded from the Home screen, using the drop-down list:
Note: When feeds are combined into the Home feed, Backstage users can still create launchers for individual feeds to allow app users to access those feeds individually.
Additional post and feed configuration
Any additional configuration or options for the Home feeds and posts need to set directly via the individual feeds themselves. For more information on configuring feeds please refer to Managing Feeds and Posts article.
Home feed interaction
App users can post in any feeds directly from the Home feed, simply by creating the post and choosing the feed to post to in the drop-down list.
All the usual like and share interactions are available in the Home feed.
App users can perform searches in the Home screen. The search function in the home searches through the app agenda, speakers, users and feed posts.
- If the Home feed is configured to display posts from multiple feeds, then the posts
will always be displayed in chronological order.
- Search works on participant and speaker names, sessions titles and locations.
- Search is only available online.
