QR codes can be directly added to a page in the workspace.
The QR codes can contain imported metadata, and therefore allow third-party registration or check-in systems to scan them. By adding QR codes directly in the app you can provide a smoother check-in experience and avoid unnecessary paper and printing costs.
Note: To use QR codes in pages, you will need to contact SpotMe support and request that the fstg-qr-generator library is added to your workspace. Without this, the QR code component will not be available in the page display template.
To explain how this functionality is used, we will create the following page called "Check-in". The page contains a simple banner and a QR code that allows a third party check-in system to recognize the app user.
Configuration
To create a personalized user QR code page:
- Create the Check-in page and add the banner and section header text.
More information on this is available in the Adding a page to the workspace article. - Drag and drop the QR code component into the central pane of the page editor, then in the right pane add the user metadata (or user field data) that the QR code will contain.
Below we are using the user's ID, {{activatedPerson.fp_ext_id}}. - Click Save to finish creating the page.
You can now add the page to the app menu so the app users can easily access their own personal QR code pages. More information on adding items to the app menu is available in the Building the app menu article.
