The Analytics module in Backstage provides you with information about the workspace's statistics and how it is used by the app users.
It will allow you to view various types of data that you can export, or even graphs that you can download or print.
You can use the Analytics module to:
You can also modify the preferences or settings for the workspace analytics as well as export any of the analytics data, and save/print any of the analytics graphs.

Analytics for the workspace
To access the workspace analytics in Backstage, click on the Analytics icon in the main menu.
The analytics are broken down into a number pages, each containing their own relevant information.
The first thing you'll want to do when accessing one of these pages is to select a date range that will be applied for the analytics.
Below, as an example we have opened the first Insights page in the list, changed the start and end dates in the top right corner, and then clicked Apply:
These dates will now remain selected as you visit any of the other pages in the Analytics section of the workspace.
Below we'll provide a description of the data that each of these pages contains.
Note: Tooltips included on these pages provide additional details on the data that is displayed.
The insights page will provide an overview of the interaction of the app users in the workspace, for the selected period of time, including:
- The number of unique active users.
- The average user visit duration.
- The average number of visits per user.
- The number of interactions per app user per visit.
- The frequency of visits for all app users (i.e. once a day/week/month).
You'll also find sections on this page that contain the following information:
See a graph displaying the total number of user interactions with the workspace, per operating system, for the selected date range.
An interaction is for example every time a user taps a button in the app, navigates between different screens, or performs certain actions such as liking a feed post.
See a visual representation of the most used modules or functionalities in the workspace, that includes the number of app user interactions for the functionality.
Participants funnel for the first 10 steps
See a visual representation of the paths your users have taken through the app, i.e. the modules, pages or content they have visited, or at what moment they left the app.
This includes the overall time spent on a page or functionality and the number of times it was viewed by app user. Hovering the cursor over a path will also provide additional data on the number of users who followed that path.
Tip: The funnel can become quite complex when looking at it for the entire workspace.
For more clarity, you can either configure targeting for your workspace analytics (in the Preferences page) to see the paths for a specific group of users, or look at individual user paths via the Analytics for individual users.
Top users page
See a list of the most active users in the workspace for a determined period of time. The list can be extended to display all the users of your workspace, and you can access the user's profiles directly by clicking on their name.
You can also click on the See more button for a user, to see the full analytics for this specific user.

Forms / Pages / Popular users / Sessions / Speakers / Sponsors / Documents / Abstracts / Search
Analytics for all these types of content in your workspace are available by accessing the relevant page in the Analytics section.
For example, below we have opened the Documents page. Here you can see which documents were seen the most by app users in your workspace, for a determined period of time:
This includes how many times a document was seen, for how long, but also the operating system that the app users were using.
You can filter the documents using the dropdown list if you'd like to see the data for a specific document. You can also access the documents directly using the links in the list to the right.
This breakdown is available by default for forms, pages, popular users, sessions, speakers, sponsors, documents, and searches. You simply need to select the relevant page to see the data.
If you have installed the Abstracts module, analytics will also be available for them here.
Accessing the Meetings page provides details on the one-to-one or group meetings that your app users have scheduled in the workspace. This includes:
- The number of meetings.
- The number of cancelled meetings.
- The average number of users that attended the meetings.
- The average duration of the meeting.
Analytics for individual users
To access the analytics of an individual user, simply go the the user's profile in Backstage, and click on the Analytics link in the top right of the screen.
This will open a specific Insights page for the individual user, where you can see detailed data for the user's activity in the workspace. This includes the user's:
- Average workspace visit duration.
- Number of visits.
- Average number of interactions per visit.
- Total number of interactions (graph).
- The functionalities or modules most used by the app user (graph).
- The users "funnel" or path through the app (graph).
This information is very similar to that included in the Analytics for the workspace section above, but is applied to the individual user.
Note: If you have selected the Anonymized analytics option in the Analytics preferences, individual app user analytics will not be available.
Analytics on live streams
If you are streaming with SpotMe via your workspace, analytics on the live streams are available via the Live streams module in your workspace.
