MS Teams is a great way to bring your speakers together in one place. However you can't brand your live stream experience with MS Teams.
Capturing your MS Teams meeting with OBS is a great way to enhance the visual appearance for your live stream, as you can add backgrounds, videos, and music.
Tip: Have you considered using SpotMe Studio for your live sessions? More information on helping you choose the right streaming option.
Production configuration guide
Prerequisite: Make sure you have installed VB Audio Cables on your production computer first.
Below are our recommendations and best practice when capturing MS Teams with OBS:
Step 1: Launch your MS Teams meeting:
- If you are hosting: Launch your MS Teams meeting host from a dedicated support laptop.
Join your MS Teams meeting with your personal laptop as a guest.
Step 2: Prepare MS Teams web app for slides capture on your production computer:
- Join your MS Teams meeting with your production computer as a guest, via MS Teams web app.
- Set the mic to “Cable Output (VB-Audio)”, and leave it unmuted.
- Set the speaker to your main speaker output (for example, “Speakers (Synaptics Audio)”).
- Share slides from your personal laptop.
- Move the tab outside of your main Chrome window, and make sure the slides are displayed in a large enough size.
- On OBS, create a new Display Capture, and crop accordingly.
Step 3: Prepare MS Teams desktop app for slides capture on your production computer:
- Join your MS Teams meeting with your production computer as a guest, through MS Teams desktop app.
- Set the mic to “Cable Output (VB-Audio)”, and leave it unmuted.
- Set the speaker to your main speaker output (for example, “Speakers (Synaptics Audio)”), and mute it.
- If you haven't done it yet, share slides and activate your camera from your personal laptop.
- Click on the camera – it should make the presentation small and the camera big on the interface.
- On OBS, create a new Display Capture, and crop accordingly.
Step 4: Configure your sound:
- On OBS, go to Settings > Audio, and set “Desktop audio” to the same speaker as above (for example: “Speakers (Synaptics Audio)”).
- Turn off the volume on the computer.
