The connectivity test is designed to be used by any speaker or host of a live stream or webinar.
The test will detect whether the speaker's current set-up and internet connection have any issues that might prevent them from delivering a good experience to their audience.
Upon joining the live stream or webinar room, just after selecting their microphone/camera, the speaker can run the connectivity test. The test takes approximately 30 seconds, and will individually evaluate the speaker's:
- Microphone
- Webcam
- Internet connection speed
- Internet connection quality
Any issues detected during the test will be displayed in the test results, along with any corrective actions that the speaker can take to resolve them.
Once the test is completed and the results are displayed, the speaker can join the live stream or webinar room, even if there are connectivity issues detected.
Tip: We highly recommend that the speaker run the test as soon as possible prior to going live, to ensure that they will have sufficient time to address any potential issues.
Below is a step-by step summary of the connectivity test process:
1 - Start preview (host) or join live room (speaker)
Here the host or speaker selects their microphone and webcam, and can then choose to run the connectivity test or skip it to go straight to the live room:
2 - Test connectivity
After clicking on Test connectivity, the test will run for approximately 30 seconds:
3 - See connectivity test results
Once the test is complete, any issues are displayed. The test will check that the microphone and webcam are working, and check the internet connection speed and connection stability.
At this point, if connectivity issues are detected, a speaker may see:
- A message indicating that Studio was simply unable to connect to their device, with recommendations on adjusting the firewall settings, in which case the speaker will not be able to enter the Studio, OR
- Any of the two messages below, that focus on connection speed and connection stability, with indications on how to solve the issues.
As the speaker attempts to solve the issues, they can at any time re-run the connectivity test to see the status of the internet connection.
If the test is able to connect to the user's device, but still detects connection speed and connection stability issues, the speaker will have the option of entering the studio:
