This article provides an overview of the Backstage home page and its different components.
The Backstage home page is the first page that a user will see when logging into Backstage, and provides easy access to:
- All of the existing app projects, known as workspaces, that the user has access to within their organization.
- Any workspace templates that the user has access to within their organization.
- The workspace creation wizard, used to create a new workspace.
- The current information regarding their organization and user profile information.
Selecting Workspaces in the menu to the left of the screen, displays all the existing workspaces that the user has access to, along with their names, icons, and how long ago they were accessed.
Workspaces can be sorted into live, past or future, based on their start and end dates, and users can also search for specific workspaces using the the Search bar.
In the above screenshot there are six existing workspaces, that all belong to the Acme organization.
Clicking on a workspace will take the user to the selected workspace's dashboard.
We'll provide more details regarding the Workspace dashboard later on in this Getting started series.
Users can also click on the Create a workspace button to access the workspace creation wizard. We'll also provide more information on Creating a workspace later on in this Getting started series.
Your workspace templates
Selecting Templates in the menu to the left of the screen will display all the templates that the user has access to, in the same way as workspaces are displayed.
Clicking on a template will also take the user to the selected template's dashboard. A template's dashboard works in the same way as a workspace dashboard.
Users can also click on the Create a template button to create a template.
We'll be providing more detailed information on Workspace templates further on in this Getting started series.
Selecting Organizations in the menu to the left of the screen will list the organization(s) that the user belongs to, in the My memberships section, as well as the organization owner.
Selecting an organization in the list will display its corresponding information, in the Manage organization tab:
Here, in the Details section, you will find information on the selected organization's name and account ID, as well as its members, app users, workspaces, legal documents, web hooks, and default settings.
Should you immediately need more detailed information on managing your organization, it is available in the Organization management article.
The Backstage home page contains a link to your user profile information, where Backstage users can access and modify their user name and phone number.
Click on the bubble containing your initials in the bottom left corner to display and edit the information.
