This article explains how to log in to Backstage for the first time.
This includes receiving the invitation email, creating your password, and logging into Backstage with the required SMS-based MFA (multi-factor authentication).
MFA will be available to organizations as opt-in starting November 11, 2024, and will be enabled automatically starting December 3, 2024 on all organizations. If you wish to opt-in and activate MFA for your organization prior to the December 3 2024 roll out, please contact SpotMe Support.
Receiving your Backstage invitation email
As a new Backstage user with a recently created account, you will receive a Backstage invitation email from SpotMe:
This invitation is sent via Backstage, by your SpotMe account manager or your organization admin.
In the email, simply click on Log in to Backstage to create your password.
Creating your password
After clicking on Log in to Backstage in the invitation email, simply fill in the fields below with your full name and password, accept our privacy policy document, and then click on Confirm account.
Note: You will receive a confirmation email saying that your account has been successfully created.
Logging in to Backstage
Once you have created your password on Backstage and received the confirmation email, you can access the Backstage login window:
Here, you can enter your email address and your created password and then click on Sign in.
Unless you are using the Enterprise Login for your domain, you will need to perform a multi-factor authentication, by entering a code that will be sent to you by SMS. To do so, Backstage will ask you to provide your mobile phone number in order to send you a unique code via SMS. You will then need to enter this code in order to complete the multi-factor authentication process and login to Backstage.
Here is how it works in detail:
1 - When Backstage asks you to provide your phone number, click on the globe to the left of the empty field:
2 - Search for your country in the list (this is the country of your phone number), or type the name of the country in the field in order to find it:
3 - Once you have selected the country, you will see the the country's flag appear to the left of the field, instead of the globe. Now, you simply need to enter your mobile phone number into the dedicated field. Make sure that you enter a phone number that you have immediate access to in order to receive the code via SMS:
3 - Once you have entered your phone number, click on Send a code.
A code will be sent via SMS to your mobile phone. Next, enter the code received on your phone in the prompt in Backstage:
4 - Click on Continue. You will now be logged into Backstage.
To facilitate your access to Backstage, you can also use the Enterprise login.
This is a SAML2 only SSO login that can be set up for your organization. To find out how to set this up for your organization, please reach out to SpotMe support.
If enterprise login is enabled on your email domain, then you will not need to perform multi-factor authentication in order to login.
More information is also available here on Backstage password requirements.
