This page summarizes the different types of access - or activation mechanisms - that are supported by SpotMe event apps, to allow your participants to easily and securely access an event.
Email login (default)
What?
Participants use their email address to access the event. Once this is done they can then use a magic link that is provided by SpotMe (and valid for 30 minutes for access via mobile app, or 30 days on web app).
When?
When the email addresses of all participants are added to SpotMe via an integration or manual upload via Backstage prior to the event.
Which event types?
Suitable for all events that use a third-party registration system, and all types of events.
More info on Email login.
Public registration page
What?
Participants sign-up to the event via an associated registration page that can be advertized (on social media for example). Options include the ability to:
- Add an email address confirmation step.
- Approve registrations manually.
- Determine when signed-up participants will gain access to the event (for example, once registration is closed), via manual approval.
- Limit who can sign-up based on their email address domain.
- Have multiple registration pages for a single event.
When?
When the event is open for everyone to attend.
When event attendees' email addresses are not collected prior to the event.
Which event types?
Events that don't use a third-party registration system.
User conferences, medical education events, medical symposia.
More info on Public registration.
Single-sign-on (SSO)
What?
Ideal enterprise-ready activation mechanism. Participants login to the app with a corporate identity provider, for example the organization's Azure AD or any SAML2 compatible IDP (Identity Provider).
When?
When all event partipants are employees of the same company or organization.
Frequently used for internal and recurring events.
Which event types?
Employee training events, employee onboardings, internal product launches (ie. sales training), congress support.
