This page provides information on the process of publishing an app under the client's developer accounts on Google Play and the App Store.
If you already have a dedicated container app published under the SpotMe publishing accounts, please visit the app transfer page to learn more about how to transfer the app to your publishing accounts on the stores.
There are three options available when it comes to publishing an app under your developer accounts, depending on one main factor - who publishes and maintains the app on the stores:
Option 1. Fully-managed publishing support by SpotMe
In this case, the SpotMe App Publishing team will need access to your Apple and Google developer accounts.
Step 1. Create your developer accounts.
Step 2. Provide access to SpotMe to your developer accounts.
- Provide access to your Apple developer account.
- Provide access to your Google Play developer account.
Step 3. SpotMe takes care of building, publishing and maintaining the app.
Specifically, the SpotMe App Publishing team will manage the following:
- Generation of app signing files - iOS distribution certificate, provisioning profile and push notification certificate.
- Building the app files / binaries.
- Deploying the Android and iOS app to the public stores.
- Ongoing maintenance of the app on both stores.
Option 2. Partly-managed publishing support by SpotMe
In this case, SpotMe provides the binaries (signed with client's certificates) and all the necessary assets, while the client deploys the app to the public stores themselves. This option requires that the client generates and shares with the SpotMe App publishing team the needed app signing files.
Please refer to the following steps:
Step 1. Create your developer accounts.
Step 2. Create an app ID.
Step 3. Create a distribution certificate.
Step 4. Create a provisioning profile.
Step 5. Create a push notification certificate.
Step 6. Send the following to your SpotMe representative:
- Exact app ID.
- Push notification certificate (.p12).
- Provisioning profile (.mobileprovision).
- iOS Distribution certificate (.p12)
- Any password protecting the files.
Step 7. SpotMe provides the app binaries (.ipa and .aab files) ready for deployment and all needed app assets.
Step 8. Client deploys the app to the App Store and Google Play.
Step 9. SpotMe regularly provides updated binaries with every new app release (approx. once a month).
Option 3. Client-managed publishing
In this case, SpotMe provides the binaries (signed with SpotMe certificates) and all needed app assets, while the client needs to re-codesign the app prior to deployment and manage the app submission process.
Please refer to the following steps:
Step 1. Create your developer accounts.
Step 2. Create an app ID.
Step 3. Create a distribution certificate.
Step 4. Create a provisioning profile.
Step 5. Create a push notification certificate.
Step 6. Send the following to your SpotMe representative:
- Exact app ID.
- Push notification certificate (.p12).
- Any password protecting the files.
Step 7. SpotMe provides the app binaries (.ipa and .abb files) signed with default SpotMe certificates.
Step 8. Client re-signs the iOS app with their own distribution certificate and provisioning profile and updates the app ID to the final target one. No further processing of the Android binary is necessary.
Step 9. Client deploys the app to the App Store and Google Play.
Step 10. SpotMe regularly provides updated binaries with every new app release (approx. once a month).
