The participant display templates in your workspace will determine how the participant profiles will look in the event. There are two display templates for participants that are used in the event, and that can be modified. These templates are:
- Person template: Used to customize how the participant information displays in the event, in the participant list and the participant profile.
- Profile template: Used to choose which fields the participants can edit themselves in the their profiles. By default, participants can edit their profile photo, email address and mobile numbers.
How to modify the participant display templates?
Go to Content > Users module, and open the Display template tab.
Here you can toggle between the Profile and Person templates:
How to modify the Person display template
The Person display template represents the content that will be visible on the participants' profile page when seen by other participants:
The Bust component determines how the banner in the background of the participant's profile will look, and uses the participant's first name {{{fname}}} and last name {{{lname}}} metadata to display their identity.
The Toolbar component allows you to configure the functionalities available on the participant's profile page. This includes enabling the buttons to connect, message, take notes, and bookmark. functionalities. These options are all enabled by default, but can be turned off here.
The See feed activity component is a link that will display the participant's feed activity when selected.
The Biography component here is a standard text component with "Biography" as its title, and that used the metadata {{{biography}}} to pull the participant's biography information for their profile.
The wv.person.contact item visible here in the central panel corresponds to the Contact information component that is visible to the left of the screen. This functionality is used to exchange business cards, as well as determine what information will be included as part of the participant's business card, using the check boxes:
Important: If you modify fields that have already been populated, any previously added information (and updates) may no longer appear in the profiles.
Form components
Here, you can also add form components that will be editable by the participants, such as the Text input component:
- On the components side of the page, to the left, expand the Form elements section
- Drag and drop the Text input to the main page.
- The Text input components can be used with metadata. To do so, click on the added Text input component, expand the Advanced settings section in the configuration panel to the right, and in the Value key field, enter the metadata that corresponds to the participant's information that you would like to make editable.
Note: Form behaviors can also be used with form components. When adding form behaviors, please make sure only the following behaviours are added: Form, Model, Model Editor, Manual Submit. Do not add the Survey response generator behaviour because this will force the page to save the results in a form survey rather than the person’s profile.
Once you have edited the Person template settings here, remember to click the Save this item button at the bottom of the page.
How to modify the Profile display template
The Profile display template allows you to choose which fields the participants can edit themselves in their profiles in the event.
By default, participants can edit their profile photo, email address, mobile number, and connect to their LinkedIn profiles in order to import their profile picture from LinkedIn using the LinkedIn data import component.
Deleting a specific component listed here will mean that participants will not be able to edit that specific information in their profile. Deleting all the components here will mean that they will not be able to edit any of their profile information.
Here, you can also add components that will be editable by the participants, such as the Text input or Choice components:
- On the components side of the page, to the left, expand the Form elements section or Model specific section.
- Drag and drop the Text input or Choice item to the main page.
For more information on the available participant (or user) metadata, please refer to the Metadata manager article.
Once you have edited the Profile settings here, remember to click the Save this item button at the bottom of the page.
