In your workspace settings, you can choose what timezone will be used in the app for displaying dates and times.
To note, dates and times in Backstage will always use the event's timezone. Forms that are attached to sessions and notifications will also use the event timezone.
You can choose between two options:
- Event timezone: Use the timezone of the physical location (venue) of the event.
This should be used for purely in-person events only that take place in a single timezone.
For example, your event takes place in Paris, and is purely an in-person event. - Device timezone: Use the timezone of your app users' devices.
This should be used for virtual events, hybrid events, or in-person events that take place in multiple geographic hubs that are located in different timezones.
Based on the selected time zone, updates will be made automatically to the time, including for changes between summer time and winter time.
Below we'll explain where you can find this setting in your workspace in Backstage.
Changing the timezone setting
To change the timezone setting in your workspace, go to the Settings section in the main menu, and open the App preferences tab.
Here you can click on the Date setting to the left of the screen, and select the timezone setting you want to use for for your workspace:
Note: When changing the timezone setting in Backstage, the changes will be effective in the mobile app when reopening the app. On web app users will need to refresh the browser to see the changes.
