A new offline mode is now available, to allow representatives to collect leads even when the Internet is not available.
This is a great way to work around any unforeseen internet issues that may take place at venues. Leads can continue to be captured using the mobile app without any interruptions, with the data syncing automatically once the device reconnects to the internet.
How to enable offline lead capture?
The Offline leads option needs to be enabled in Backstage in order to allow reps to capture leads when offline.
This option is available via the Lead capture > Settings section:
Remember to click Save to confirm your choice. Please note that it may take up to 10 minutes for the offline mode to be enabled on the apps.
Using the offline lead capture mode
Once enabled, the reps will be notified that they are using offline mode, via a banner at the top of the screen:
All lead capture modes are supported in offline mode:
- QR or barcode scan
- Optical scan
- Manual entry
When the rep goes back online, a message will be displayed on the screen and the leads will be fully synchronized:
Limitations and notes when using offline lead capture
Please take note of the below information that is applicable when using the offline lead capture mode.
- The minimum app version needed to use offline leads is iOS 2.50.0 / Android 2.46.0.
- Please note that, whether the rep is capturing leads online or offline, the same lead qualification form is used in Backstage. However, when reps are capturing leads offline, some lead qualification form components are not supported. The following components are always supported: Text / Text input / Section header / Choice (radio, checkbox, dropdown) / Signature field (the “Display person to sign” and “Display device owner").
- Any changes made in Backstage will not be reflected in the app as long as the device is not connected to the internet. When reconnecting to the internet, we recommend that app users refresh the app in order to see any changes that may have been made to Backstage while they were offline.
- When adding a new user as a sponsor representative for leads capture, the user needs to restart the app to see the new Leads menu item.
- When unsupported fields are added to the lead qualification form, they will not be exposed to the rep in the mobile app.
- When they are offline, reps cannot delete or edit any of the leads that were captured when the rep was online.
- When they are offline, it may occur that some of the previously captured leads do not appear in the rep's leads list. They will however be displayed once the rep is back online.
- Please note that completing captured lead profiles via real-time identity resolution is not supported when offline.
- If you are using direct access to congress APIs via a developer kit, data will be only synchronized from the congress API once the device reconnects to the internet.
