You can personalize your visitors' experience in the content hub by using targeting to manage who can see specific videos and documents.
This is done by applying visibility rules to any individual video or document, based on the user metadata present in the hub (more information on managing the user metadata in the content hub). The users (or visitors) who match the applied rules (targeting) will be able to see and access the video or document.
Targeting can be configured using the folowing types of metadata:
boolean / choice / choice-list / email / hidden / number / text / formatted-datetime / display-only
Targeting is applied at the individual video or document level:
- Go to the Content > Videos and documents section.
- Select the video or document to which you want to apply the targeting.
- Open the Targeting section:
- Create the rules for the targeting, by clicking on Add rule and filling in the fields for Visible to and/or Hidden to based on your needs.
In the below example, the targeting will make this video only visible to visitors who have "Doctor" as their Position in their user profile: - Remember to click on Save for the targeting to be applied.
Tips:
- Multiple rules can be combined to reach very specific segments of your audience. For more information on combining rules and using exceptions in the rules, read the How to configure targeting article.
- As you create rules, you can click on the Show affected participants button to see the number of and the full list of participants that are affected by the targeting rules.
Notes:
- A video or document will not be visible or accessible in any way to a visitor who is targeted as “Hidden to”.
- If there is a category on the "Highlights" page, that only contains videos and or documents that the visitor is not targeted to see, then the visitor will not be able to see the category at all.
-The targeting can be applied to the following user metatada types: Boolean / Choice / Choice-list / Email / Hidden / Number / Text / Formatted-datetime
